Nestled in behind the Utas Cradle Coast Campus in Burnie, you can find, what may actually be, THE cutest colony of Little Penguins known. So, of course protecting the health and habitat of these little guys was at the forefront of all minds that worked on this significant, Education project.
In a Tassie first, a harmonious compromise for the upgraded coastal pathways constituted of luminaires with PC Amber CCT (For all you non lighting nerds out there- this is a very warm, amber toned colour of light). The
Unlike the Cool Whites we unfortunately see too much at night like 4000K and even 3000K, PC Amber has less than 1% blue wavelength in its colour spectrum. Whilst we need these blue wavelengths during the day to keep us activated and alert, at night, they disrupt our Circadian Rhythm causing serious health implications. For penguins and wildlife alike, these implications can be fatal.
