Hydro Workplace Fitout

Another beautiful workplace design from the amazing team at Francis & Burne. Investment in the office sector is on the rise as organisation begin to understand that a thoughtfully designed, healthy office contributes to staff retention, increased productivity, lower sick days and happier staff. This project epitomises that realisation.

It is well established that a buildings lighting solution plays a pivotal role in the overall functionality and wellness of the building, and we know that light is the biggest factor in regulating our circadian rhythm which is integral to our health. Responsible for our sleep patterns, hormone balance, metabolism & body temperature, it’s imperative that the choices we make for workplace lighting are appropriate for the people who work in them.

Hydro workplace did just that. Leveraging the high ceilings in this beautiful, historic building, we were able to use vast levels of indirect light, illuminating the ceilings in order to imitate the ambient glow of the natural sky. This indirect light also minimises contrast issues, allowing our eyes to adjust with comfort and ease to the space. Break out areas and quiet rooms in this office provide a juxtaposition of design, providing solace of a different kind, catering for different kinds of needs. In these spaces, warmer colour temperatures, lower levels of light and a more decorative approach allows staff take time out or, work in different mode. The end result is clear, Hydro Tasmania is a workplace that values and appreciates it employees. Well done FAB.
